I hope all of you who have a dad to celebrate with had a wonderful fathers day. Scott had a good day of watching golf, some baseball and he said the water in the pool is the perfect temperature. Thank goodness it stopped raining long enough to warm up outside.
With all this rain make sure you are paying attention to your roofs, gutters, and basements for leaks and water intrusion. As always if you need a guy give me a call, I have a guy.
Interest rates really haven’t gone up or down this week. The 30 year fixed rate sits at 6.89% but mortgage applications increased 12.5% from the previous week according to the mortgage bankers association. This is good news for the market in general.
This week 2,472 new properties listed for sale. 1,154 properties successfully went under contract this week and 628 homes closed this week. The average price of the closed homes this week was $570,403 across metro Atlanta and they stayed on the market an average of 48 days before they negotiated an acceptable contract.
The most expensive sale this week was a 9 acre gated estate in Milton that was listed by Sothebys. It was listed for $8,250,000 and reduced a cool $1,000,000 during negotiations. It was a tiny 24,888 sq foot home, it reminded my of a fancy hotel from the Arizona desert. Here is a link to see the home. Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Wallace who originally bought this home for $814,200 in 2001. Don’t you just love real estate!
The last thing below is a excerpt from a book I read years ago but I heard a speaker talk about it last Friday. The top 5 regrets of the dying. Bronnie Ware, a hospice nurse asked people about their lives and if they had any regrets when they were in their last days. She came up with this list. This has nothing to do with real estate but everything to do with living well. It was good for me to read over and think about again.
