I don’t know if you have noticed but the US Postal service has made some changes in Metro Atlanta Mail Distribution. On February 24, 2024 a new Atlanta GA Regional Processing & Distribution Center began operations. It is located in Palmetto GA. Before February 24th there were multiple Postal Distribution Centers in the region. The locations were Atlanta, Augusta, Macon and North Metro in Duluth. These four centers are now going to be renovated from Distribution Centers to local processing centers that will simply process letter and flat volumes for delivery. The postal services press release said that it will bolster effectiveness, strengthen customer service and eliminate long term maintenance costs.
Well, if its in my newsletter then you can imagine that maybe things didn’t go quite as planned. There are people who today are still waiting for packages and mail that they can see have arrived in Palmetto (using tracking) but 19 days later that same mail is just sitting in Palmetto. That would not be bolstering the effectiveness of the delivery system as was the plan and expectations.
