Last week, I had the pleasure of joining 1,000 fellow REALTORS® at the REALTOR® Day at the Dome on February 18, 2025, at the Georgia State Capitol. We had engaging conversations with state legislators about key real estate topics affecting our community.
Exciting news: mortgage interest rates have dipped below 7%, currently averaging 6.9% . This is a positive sign for both buyers and sellers. I think we will have a great spring.
I’ve been receiving more calls from homeowners eager to list their properties, anticipating a lively spring market. Previously, many were hesitant to sell due to their favorable mortgage rates:
- 35.2 million homes are mortgage-free.
- 11.6 million homes have rates under 3%.
- 18.5 million homes have rates between 3-4%.
- 8.4 million homes have rates between 4-5%.
- 5.3 million homes have rates between 5-6%.
- 9 million homes have rates over 6%.
With the recent dip in interest rates, more homeowners might feel encouraged to enter the market.
