Happy Wednesday. What a heat wave we have been in. I have been a Realtor for 20+ summers in Atlanta and this last week has been pretty steamy. I would like to say a special word of thanks to Willis Carrier who invented air conditioning in 1902. The invention of AC is credited with the growth and expansion of southern cities. There are some people who do not have air conditioning and the Georgia Department of Emergency Management has some really helpful tips for extreme heat. Watch out for the symptoms of heat exhaustion & heat stroke. Here is a link to the GEMA article.
There have been a lot of stories about how the market is shifting to a buyers market in many parts of the US. In some markets in the US there are a lot more sellers than there are buyers there is a graphic below that shares some of the big buyers markets. The top three markets are in the same general area of South Florida. I was very suprised to see Austin Texas and Nashville Tennessee on this list.
Now for the weekly interest rate update. Today the 30 year fixed rate is 6.89%. The same as it has been for weeks. The deal I shared a couple of weeks ago from a local credit union is still going strong. They have a loan that is amortized for 30 years and then its a 15 year adjustable rate. Meaning the rate is fixed the first 15 years and after that it can adjust. The rate today for this special in house program is only 5.625%! This is a huge savings.
